Computing in Melbourne: A Historical Tour

You are invited to the second-ever computing history tour of Melbourne, on Sunday 9th November. This is a Monash University 50th Anniversary event.

Time: Start 9:00 for 9:30am at Caulfield campus;
end ~ 4-5pm, probably at University of Melbourne.

The tour takes in several sites of historical interest (and several architecturally significant buildings), including:

The plan is to have lunch at a cafe somewhere on the way. There will be a fair bit of walking and getting on and off trams. For public transport ticket info see below.

Please email with numbers if you wish to come.

Feel free to invite family and friends, but let Graham know.

Book early to avoid disappointment, as capacity is limited.

The costs will be the necessary tram ticket and whatever you buy at the cafes. The tour itself is free.

In public transport terms, the journey will take place entirely in Zone 1. The best ticket option is a Sunday Saver ($2-90, no concession as price is already significantly reduced; this ticket in fact covers both Zones 1 & 2) or, if you use public transport on weekends reasonably often, you could use one day's worth of a 5-by-weekend-daily which costs $14-50 for 5 weekend days' use and covers Zones 1 & 2. These tickets need to be bought at a manned station or some other manned ticket outlet as the machines don't sell them. If you haven't bought such a ticket in advance, you can get a Zone 1 Daily from a machine on our first tram trip (full fare $6-50, concession $3-50).
