- Abstract:
- Sensor environments have become a very popular research topic in many areas of computer science such as networks, databases, embedded operating systems and more generally, ubiquitous computing. The contribution of these tiny yet intelligent devices to the new ”information everywhere” paradigm is now well recognized and various computer science domains try to face challenges that have appeared due to this new way of computing. The database community has been proposing sensor data querying and data mining solutions adapted to the unique characteristics sensors that generate data streams continuously and frequently, where such data has to be processed in almost real-time to evaluate continuous queries and finally, sensors have limited energy, storage and computing resources.
Effective "sensor data stream management systems" covering the whole range of management operations (from querying to configuration through data-mining) are not yet available. This seminar will present our past and current work in this field. This includes: sensor querying, concurrent operations on sensors streams and a demonstration of the SStreamWare prototype. The talk will also provide an overview of two collaborative projects that I am working on with researchers at DSSE, Monash University: 1) analyzing realtime feedback 2) continuous interaction between clustering and continuous querying.
- Speaker biographies:
- I'm Assistant Professor at Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble University France) since 2001. Since then I have been working in the field of data management in various systems: Grids, P2P systems and since 2002 on Mobile and Sensing systems. I have also some experiences in the field of french text-mining. Currently I am on sabbatical visiting DSSE from June 2009 - June 2010.
