- Abstract:
- Dr Kristina Macrae, the Manager of CHEQ has been working on improving the university-wide Unit Evaluation survey. In this presentation Dr Macrae will give an overview of the changes made to the university-wide items that have come into effect for semester 2, 2009. She will outline the purpose of the evaluation and how the revised unit evaluation questions have been validated to ensure they accurately measure the information that is being sought. She will provide insights into the questions adopted by Faculties and outline the flexibility faculties have over the format and type of the faculty-wide questions. She will also provide an update on the proposal of combining the Unit Evaluation surveys with MonQueST surveys.
In the second half of the workshop, Dr Lorriane Bennett will facilitate a discussion with participants that will focus on reviewing the current set of Faculty-wide questions:
1. The listed prerequisite units or knowledge were effective preparation for studying this unit
2. Topics in this unit complemented my degree
3. The unit was presented at an appropriate level
4. The face-to-face classes I attended helped me learn
5. I found the on-line component of the unit useful for my learning
6. The textbooks, recommended readings and other resources helped me learn
7. The teaching and learning approaches used in the unit worked for me
8. The communication and consultation options available to me were sufficient and appropriate
9. The assessment tasks were relevant to the learning objectives
10. The un-graded learning activities, such as tutorial and other exercises, case studies, etc., provided me with feedback to support my learning
