Centre for Community Networking Research wins federal government tender
The Centre for Community Networking Research has won a federal government tender to provide a protoype of a National Non-profit ICT Coalition. CCNR is responsible for the design and the research behind the formation of the Coalition, and will assist with the project management. Such a Coalition does not yet exist in Australia, although other countries have established coalitions.
The development of the Coalition will involve extensive consultations with all sorts of non-profit organizations and managers, about their needs for information and communications technologies. This process begun by the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts funding CCNR back in 2003, when it began to elicit the views of Australian civil society for the World Summits on the Information Society. CCNR wrote a Statement and Strategy for Australia for the World Summit in Tunis in November 2005, and this successful tender was an outcome.
The partners of CCNR in the consortium are Community Information Strategies Australia Inc (CISA), Adelaide, WorkVentures Australia, Albany Consulting, Energetica Consulting, and ACOSS, all based in Sydney. The Coalition will be developed over the coming year. If you would like to make suggestions or recommendations, please contact members of CCNR (www.ccnr.net): Professor Don Schauder, Dr Graeme Johanson, Tom Denison, or Larry Stillman in the Caulfield School of Information Technology.
