FIT developed karate system demonstrated at Caulfield Open Day, August 6

Come along to Open Day at the Caulfield Campus and experience the interactive Karate Action Replay System developed by Monash IT graduate Joseph Foreman.

Compete in the Jedi Knight competition. Free network gaming competition runs all day

Interactive robots, student projects and video conferencing will also be on display

The Karate Action Replay System is a sophisticated computer system designed to record and display live action karate bouts to assist in scoring for tournaments.  During the day, the system will be demonstrated by Australia’s Open Weight Karate Champion Leon Romary, and Fudoshin black-belt Richard Lewis.  Sensei Chris Diamond, National Judge from the Australian Karate Federation, will also be refereeing at the exhibition.  Visitors can even join in and compare their fighting style to the champions, through the system's live playback and comparison function!

The Karate Action Replay System formed part of Joseph’s 3rd year studies in the Bachelor of Multimedia Systems. Projects such as this are now completed by students enrolled in the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems - Multimedia Major.
