Thai Computer Science Linkage Workshop held 8-9 December, 2005
Assoc Prof Jan Newmarch was the invited speaker for the 5th Annual Thai Computer Science Linkage (TCSL) Curriculum Development Workshop, 8-9 December 2005 at Srinakarinwirot University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The TCSL aims to develop collaborations between Thai and Monash academics. The focus is on the latest 'hot topics', which originally were topics that supported undergraduate curricula, but are now topics that are more relevant to postgraduate studies. For each of the workshops, attendees have been academics from the fields of computer science, computer engineering, IT, and information systems from the 20+ public universities across Thailand, the private universities and the technical colleges. Monash has retained an involvement in the workshop for the 5 years since its inception.
The topic discussed by Jan at the workshop, Web Services, proved to be a hot topic with interested interaction from the 80 (approx) academic staff and student participants.
Jan also presented information on the development of web pages for an international audience and discussed his own research.
The event was sponsored by the Australian Government Australian Education International (AEI), Srinakarinwirot University (SWU), and Monash University; and Chaired by Asst Prof. Roongrapee Krancomyee, Srinakarinwirot University and Jan Miller, Monash University. In attendance were the President of SWU, the Dean of Science (SWU), and representatives of AEI and Monash University, with welcoming presentations from each of these bodies.
