Advancing Women in Research Seminar

When: 1.00-2.00pm Thursday, 4 May 2006
Where: Language and Learning Services Seminar Room, Room 17, Building 10 (Campus Centre-Western extension), Clayton Campus.

Associate Professor Maryanne Dever, Director, Centre for Women's Studies and Gender Research (Faculty of Arts) and Ms Barbara Dalton, Coordinator, Women's Leadership & Advancement Scheme will be presenting the results of the When Research Works for Women project conducted last year. The When Research Works for Women Report brings together findings from a qualitative study of a group of Monash University’s top women researchers. The report identifies:

  • factors that are critical to the building of strong research track records
  • areas where the University’s policy or practice might be improved to enhance the research capability of staff
  • key recommendations for action based on these findings
  • a set of strategies women in research might utilise to improve their research productivity

While the study specifically focused on women’s research experiences, the recommendations arising from the findings point to ways in which the research environment at Monash University could be improved to the benefit of all staff engaged in research.

Copies of the report will be available at the seminar.

Please RSVP by Monday 1 May by emailing barbara.dalton@adm.monash.edu.au. BYO Lunch.
