A message from the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Ron Weber:
The ARC has recently announced its funding decisions for 2009.
I am delighted to report that colleagues within the Faculty were involved in seven successful ARC grant applications: four Discovery, two Linkage, and one Indigenous Researchers Development. This is an excellent result!
Congratulations to David Green, Guojun Lu, Kai Ming Ting, Dengsheng Zhang, Kim Marriott, David Taniar, Bala Srinivasan, Linda Dawson, Julie Fisher, and Sue McKemmish. Julie Fisher won two Linkage Grants. One includes an Australian Postdoctoral Award (Industry).
My sincere thanks to all who took the time to prepare applications for the current round of grants. I realize that being engaged with ARC applications is a time-consuming, frustrating, and often disappointing process. Again, I am grateful to all who submitted an application.
Finally, I would like to thank all those colleagues who assisted with and acted as a mentor in the preparation of applications for the current round of grants. I would also like to thank Katherine Knight and Vecki Raicevic for their outstanding administrative support.
