Monash Professional Year

Graduates from the Faculty of Information Technology have the opportunity to apply for the Professional Year (Information Communication Technology) through Monash Professional.

Monash Professional is a private company of Monash University and provides training, development and consultancy services as well as providing professional industry placement programs for Monash graduates.

As Australia’s leading internship provider, Monash Professional is committed to supporting international students in their endeavors to harness their employment potential by undertaking work with an Australian company.

The Professional Year (Information Communication Technology) was first offered by Monash Professional in May 2008 and is regulated by the Australian Computing Society. The 44-week program is made up of four components:

  1. Business Communication Skills (CBD)
  2. Australia Workplace Skills (CBD)
  3. Professional Internship (unpaid placement in Host Company)
  4. Professional component (through ACS online)

The Business Communication Skills and the Australian Workplace Skills courses build awareness of the Australian workplace culture and practices and enable graduates to enhance their employment opportunities in Australia. The professional internship placement enables Information Communication Technology graduates to utilise their higher order thinking skills developed through their quality Monash undergraduate or postgraduate degree programs within a specific work context.

It is expected that participants in the Professional Year will be holders of a 485 Skilled Graduate visa; however, the Professional Year program is available to all international graduates, and particularly those waiting to have their 485 visa approved. The entire program including enrolment fees and insurance is $13,632.80.
