Student wins ATLAS/CERN Multimedia Contest and Intern Program

Monash University student Phil Owen expressed his interest in 3D scientific and medical visualisations during his studies in 2008. Since then he has been busy working on a project with the Pharmacy Faculty, primarily with Mark Power, involving HD video.

In Phil's words: "A contest was held at CERN in Geneva Switzerland to produce a short film and/or multimedia project about the ATLAS experiment. The movie I entered in the competition won me an internship to work on the site for 3 months with the education and public outreach division. During my time there I will be tasked with the conception, design, and production of a multimedia project documenting the first collisions at CERN's Large Hadron Collider."

More information about the competition can be found at the ATLAS website, and at Phil's Competition Winning Project.
