Monash staff are calling on their colleagues in Australia to participate in the University’s first staff philanthropy campaign.
"Join us in supporting Monash students by giving to the new Monash+ staff philanthropy campaign," said the email from Dean of Science Professor Rob Norris, Professor Margaret Kartomi from the Faculty of Arts (School of Music – Conservatorium) and Mrs Elizabeth Kwok from the Faculty of Business and Economics.
“The Chancellor is getting ready to launch an appeal to alumni, so we think it is important that staff participate too. Your gifts will directly help students to get the very most from their education.”
The Monash+ staff philanthropy campaign is focused on student support. Each faculty has chosen one priority initiative that will help students lead, achieve and succeed. The Faculty of Information Technology priority is Student Equity Bursaries.
The Faculty of Information Technology Student Equity Bursaries will help undergraduate students facing disadvantage. It will provide support bursaries plus travel bursaries to help students spend a semester at Monash University’s campus in South Africa or Malaysia.
“Of course, staff have given donations to Monash University over its whole history. And you all contribute greatly to the University’s success, every day. We are excited that there is now a new opportunity, a new way for staff to give – via payroll deductions or by credit card. Your contribution is important, whatever the amount,” the group said.
“Now is your opportunity to make a difference to the lives of Monash students.”
