FIT students team wins commendation award at national business planning competition

The KidCABS team

A team of four Faculty of Information Technology students has won a special commendation award in the prestigious John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge, which was held in Adelaide between 9 - 10 December 2010.

The team of postgraduate and undergraduates students created and presented a business plan for KidCABS, a transportation service exclusively for children. Read more about the event and KidCABS.

Professor Ron Weber, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, said he was delighted with the achievement of the team at the John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge.

Both undergraduate students have recently completed FIT3134 IT-based entrepreneurship. This new unit was introduced specifically in the Faculty to encourage IT students to become more entrepreneurial in the ways they viewed information technology.  The team's success at the John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge was testament to the benefits of students undertaking the unit, especially those who wished to become entrepreneurs.  On behalf of the Faculty, he congratulated the members of the team and Professor Michael Vitale, who teaches the unit.
