When: Friday 29 July, 2-3pm
Where: Room 115, Building 63, Clayton campus
Students are invited to hear about a fantastic opportunity to visit America or Israel for research experience over the summer as a lead-in to Higher Degrees by Research. MURPA is a Monash initiative to allow technically oriented students studying 3rd year IT units or equivalent to spend 8 weeks at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), NCSA at University of Illinois or Technion University Israel in January/February 2012 before returning to Monash to undertake honours. Associated with MURPA is an international seminar stream designed to give Monash students an introduction to the exciting research going on at UCSD and other Monash associates, that Monash MURPA students could participate in over the summer. An outline of MURPA is available at the MURPA home page. Also available is the 2011 MURPA seminar program.
Next seminar, also 29 July, but at 9am in Room 135 Building 26 Clayton, features Prof Bill Kramer of National Centre for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) speaking on "Are we using the wrong metrics for large scale HPC systems?" View the abstract.
