Invitation for Participation

The Third IAPR sponsored conference on Pattern Recognition in Bioinformatics (PRIB 2008) will provide you with an excellent opportunity to present your latest research in pattern recognition and computational intelligence based techniques applied to problems in bioinformatics and computational biology. It will provide invaluable opportunities for academia, scientists and industry professionals to interact with each other and share experiences. PRIB 2008 is being organised jointly by Monash University, Australia and IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition) Bioinformatics Technical Committee (TC-20). IAPR is well known as an association of non-profit, scientific or professional organizations (being national, multi-national, or international in scope).

The PRIB 2008 organizers are working diligently to ensure a successful conference. Apart from organising oral and poster paper presentation, we are also inviting bioinformatics 'gurus' to come forth and conduct special sessions/ tutorials and be the keynote speakers. Continuing with the traditions of the previous PRIB conferences, PRIB 2008 will be giving IAPR Best paper and IAPR Best student paper awards. Further, selected student authors will receive PRIB 2008 Student Awards. A limited number of PRIB 2008 Travel Awards will also be presented to overseas students. These awards are few and will be based on the reviewers recommendation of the student paper. Students do NOT have to apply for these travel awards.

The participants will receive the PRIB 2008 as a volume in the Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics published by Springer and Supplementary Conference Proceedings published by PRIB08 including the papers presented as posters. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extensions of their work presented in the conference for Special Issues of journals. It is proposed to fast track the review process for the special issues.

PRIB 2008 will be held at the popular Novotel St Kilda in Melbourne from 15th October through to 17th October. Overlooking the St Kilda beach, the hotel has a large number of well appointed guest rooms, many with spectacular bay views and spa baths. Being located close to the city centre, it has excellent transport facility to and from Melbourne airport.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to invite you to join the fun (i.e. PRIB 2008) and attend this upcoming event. Bring along your colleagues, students, friends, and family to this great city which is known for dining, shopping, sporting, recreational and cultural events. Come equipped with a sense of adventure. After all, it's easy to lose yourself in Melbourne !

Looking forward to seeing you at PRIB 2008.
