Information is now one of the world's most important resources and the expanding and multi-dimensional information infrastructure has created major career opportunities. The Bachelor of Information Systems is designed to prepare students for information professional careers in the information age in the major areas of systems analysis and Internet information management.
The Bachelor of Information Systems (BIS) is a professionally orientated course with a strong practical focus. Throughout the course, you will develop real systems, products and services in studios specially designed for 'learning by doing'. The course provides the skills and knowledge to solve information problems and manage information-related opportunities in business, education and society.
During the first two years of the course you are introduced to the basic concepts in information management and information systems, project management, database and computer programming. You also select elective units which add to your information technology studies and give you the opportunity to specialise in areas of your choice. These electives can come from any Monash University Faculty. Advice on elective selection is available.
