Course structure

As the Bachelor of Information Systems has been replaced by the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems, those students completing their Bachelor of Information Systems will be required to complete equivalent FIT units to meet the requirements of the course.  To enable you to map your progression, the CSE codes for units you may have already completed are listed in italics next to their equivalent FIT codes.

*NOTE: In instances where the new FIT code is at a different year level to the IMS unit it is replacing the FIT unit will still be regarded as the level of the IMS unit for the purposes of course completion.

FIT2001 regarded as a level 1 unit - replacing IMS1805
FIT3043 regarded as a level 2 unit - replacing IMS2906

Course requirements

Students must complete a total of 144 points including:

  • a minimum of 42 points of first-year units and not exceeding a maximum of 60 points of first-year units
  • a minimum of 36 points of second-year units
  • a minimum of 36 points of third-year units
  • and must pass all the core units of the degree (108 core points).

Students must also successfully complete six electives (36 points), of which:

  • a maximum 18 points of first-year units are chosen
  • a minimum of 6 points must be third-year electives
