R&D Projects - CoolPeople
These projects investigate how technology changes the social and professional activities undertaken by Monash students and staff.
CoolCampus: A User’s View of a Smart Lecture Theatre
This proposed project involves the development of a demonstration prototype for a smart lecture theatre that will enable users to obtain more information about the use of the target lecture theatre. Whilst the hardware and networking components of the project will establish the technological feasibility this project will determine whether or not it works from the user’s perspective.
The research project will investigate the use of the lecture theatre through:
observation of use, at various times for various lectures the researcher will observe and note the activities of students around the smart lecture theatre technology on the spot interviews with students will also be undertaken exploring effectiveness and use of the technology. The outcomes of the research will be to determine the extent of use of the technology, willingness of students to interact with the device, benefits and drawbacks, potential for other applications
