Bachelor of Business Systems (IBL stream)* - third year 2006

I chose Monash because of their reputable IT faculty and on recommendation from people I know in the IT profession. The course I chose offered a very strong coursework structure, which covers all aspects of IT. This has set me up with a broad skill set ready for when I graduate and look for professional work.

The best thing about the course is the IBL program. My two industry placements were at IBM and Coles Group Ltd. I have now had a year’s practical work experience in both technical and non-technical IT roles, and it has taught me how to interact as an IT professional in a corporate environment. The experience will be invaluable in helping me to gain graduate employment.

I believe the broad range of coursework subjects and also the experience gained through the Industry Based Learning (IBL) placements will give me an edge over graduates from other institutions. The skills, behaviours and networks that I have set up throughout my course will hopefully ensure me a path to a successful IT career.
