Bachelor of Information Technology* - 2007

Local resident and Gippsland School of Information Technology student, Ty Gambling, is currently undertaking work experience in India.

Ty was one of 12 Information Technology students Australia wide selected for a prestigious Satyam Work Integrated Learning scholarship.

This scholarship is offered by Satyam Computer Services Ltd in conjunction with the ACS Foundation.

The scholarship provides work integrated learning experience including 6 months training in India comprising 3 months of intensive college-based training and exposure to various IT methodologies and 3 months relevant practical work experience.  Upon returning to Australia Ty will undertake a further 12 months of work integrated learning experience.  The total value of this scholarship is estimated in excess of $50,000.

Ty said “This is a great opportunity to utilise the skills learnt from my Monash Gippsland IT degree.  The skills learnt during my undergraduate degree have already proven invaluable in receiving this scholarship and it is fantastic to see that what is being taught at Gippsland really has relevance in the professional arena.

Satyam is recognised worldwide as a leading company in implementing IT services and this opportunity will give me a head start in my IT career upon my return to Australia.  Working for a billion dollar company will also look impressive on my resume.

I chose to apply for this scholarship in order to acquire some valuable ‘real world’ experience before continuing my education at Monash Gippsland by undertaking a Masters degree.

Being exposed to an entirely different culture while observing and participating in their utilisation of IT will undoubtedly give me fresh ideas about how the industry works and best practices, which I will be able to implement when I return.”
