You are invited to participate in the 8th Australian Conference on Knowledge Management and Intelligent Decision Support (ACKMIDS 2005) to be held at Rydge’s Hotel, Melbourne, Australia on December 5 and 6, 2005. Registration now open on Conference Registration page.

This year the conference theme is:

“Why Culture Matters: the Local and Global in Knowledge Management.”

The conference will provide a forum to explore why culture is an important factor in the implementation of knowledge management strategies. Of particular significance is the interaction between local factors and overarching global concerns within the organization. The spectrum of interest ranges from cross cultural factors to systems implementation. The conference provides an opportunity to explore team, organizational and societal issues as they impact on knowledge management initiatives.

Keynotes

The conference will have two invited keynote speakers. We are pleased to announce that Larry Prusak has confirmed that he will open the conference with his keynote address.

Instruction for Authors

Authors are invited to submit full research papers as well as application examples representing original, previously unpublished work. The official language of the conference is English.

Important dates

Paper submission (5000 words maximum) - 1 August 2005
Notification of acceptance - 19 September 2005
Submission of final paper - 10 October 2005

The conference will explore the various challenges posed in the realization of knowledge management in organisations today. To open this discussion, cultural organizational issues in knowledge management will be our focus this year.

Review Procedures

  • All submitted papers will be blind peer reviewed by at least two members of the International Program Committee. The review criteria are based on originality, rigor, and relevance of content. We seek contributions that report on completed or ongoing research.
  • No paper, which has been previously accepted, published, or presented at another meeting, or submitted for review elsewhere, may be submitted.
  • Accepted papers will be published only if at least one of the authors is registered in due time.
  • Accepted papers with at least one registered author will appear in the conference proceedings which will appear as a monograph with an ISBN number and published by Australian Scholars Publishing.
  • Authors must attach their paper in Word format to an email addressed to: jill.owen@sims.monash.edu.au
