Healthcare
Background
The program was established in June 2001 as a partnership between Monash University, through its School of Information Management and Systems, and ASOKA Systems Australian P/L who provided seed funding. This initiative draws on a 15 year association between the partners and their work in the healthcare and bio-medical areas.
The Program focuses on the application of knowledge management to the financial and clinical requirements of the healthcare sector. The specific aim of the Program is to address effectiveness of healthcare through an exploration of collaboration within the sector. The research agenda of the Program is to investigate the full range of issues in the collaborative arrangements within healthcare and issues relating to the design and deployment of information and communication technology (ICT) to support such collaboration. The research agenda is conducted from the perspective of knowledge management but is informed by the needs of the sector as identified by the industry stakeholders.
