Industry and community engagement

We place a very strong emphasis on engaging with industry and the community, on the commercial and "real world" relevance of our research. We work closely with and receive funding from business, government and community organisations within Australia and internationally on an on-going basis.

Our researchers conduct fundamental and applied research covering many different aspects of information technology. Our research strengths lie in intelligent systems, distributed systems and software engineering, organisational and social informatics, business intelligence and enterprise systems, and multimedia computing, communications and applications.

Our academic staff and research students publish research results in prestigious national and international journals and at conferences all over the world. We also have numerous collaborative and fruitful links and partnerships with overseas universities and organisations - adding value to worldwide projects through Monash University's esteemed innovation and respected core research skills.

Success stories

Our researchers are interested in applying their knowledge to solve IT problems for industry and the community. For example our constraints and optimisation researchers have worked with the airline industry to solve large scale integrated scheduling problems – to bring all the specialised resources together at the right time and place every time a plane takes off – the miracle of organisation. Other researchers have been involved with health consumer groups in developing smart health information portals to provide timely access to quality, reliable and relevant information to support health and lifestyle decisions. We may be able to assist your organisation to develop innovative solutions to your IT problems.
