Monash Silicon Valley IT Internship Program

With the support of Monash University Alumni for the third year running, the Silicon Valley Internship Program was another tremendous success. After working for three months with US based IT companies Macromedia, Flextronics, ANZA Technology Network and Simulation Resources, the interns from the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University and the University of Melbourne are on track for launching their IT careers. Monash University Alumni, Paul Fox talks about the amazing capabilities of Australian undergraduate students:

From the supervisor's perspective, Doug McCown, Director of Data Warehousing, Flextronics Inc. highlighted the Win-Win situation for both the interns and his organisation:

"Over the years I have had several interns that have worked for me and at times the fear is that the amount of training & assistance that has to go into the person may not be worth what the output ends up being. In this case I feel that it has been a "Win-Win" situation.....Flextronics has been able to gain something that we needed but really did not have the time for and in exchange Peter was able to be exposed to a large corporate data warehousing environment which I hope will benefit him as he proceeds out into the business world after his studies complete."
