For Cynthia Liew, pursuing the Master of Information Management and Systems at Monash University gave her the competitive edge she needed to compete with other IT graduates in the workplace. Cynthia said:
"The Master of Information Management and Systems degree helped me leverage myself above other graduates in the workplace, and also assisted me in maintaining a good level of competitive competency in IT."
Practical knowledge
"Through the degree, I've gained practical knowledge and skills in integrating computers and other technologies, such as data, text, image, graphics and voice, into the management of business information."
After graduating from the MIMS program, Cynthia was immediately offered a position as a Research Analyst with a local software development company in Melbourne.
"Within a short time in this role, I was able to sharpen my analytical, business and communication skills and I was promoted to Business Analyst. In my new role I found that the core units from my Master of Information Management and Systems degree prepared me perfectly to take on much more responsibility straight away."
Confident ability
"My skills from my study gave me the confidence and ability to create project plans, develop cross-data reference modelling, analyse data and take the lead in client interactions.
"The MIMS degree has definitely made sure that my career has got off to a very good start. Its excellent variety of subjects have shaped and developed all the key skills I need to succeed in my IT career," said Cynthia.
