"I come from a technical background, and this degree taught me that there is more to IT than just programming or technical design. The course material was relevant to the job I do today, and the course made me appreciate the value that IT can bring to a business.
“The Industry-Based Learning program (IBL) for this degree was a deciding factor in my choosing to study IT at Monash. The opportunity to have a full year of work experience in leading companies was invaluable when I came to gain employment after I graduated. I was able to try out two completely different roles in two very different organisations. From this I could better understand what I was best suited for. I received job offers from both companies in which I had my IBL placements and am happy to say I am now employed by one of them!
“In my current role I have project management and system delivery responsibilities, and I’ve travelled to the USA and China for two 5-week training camps. I am on a 6-month rotation on different projects to give me a broad understanding of the many business areas and systems. Next year I am aiming for a leadership position which will allow me to specialise in one area of expertise at GE Money.
"IT is becoming a consolidated industry with a requirement for graduates who have business skills complementing their IT skills. Courses such as Business Information Systems teach you both aspects, and make you a highly marketable graduate."
* The Bachelor of Business Systems is the previous form of the Bachelor of Business Information Systems.
