Joseph Foreman
Bachelor of Multimedia Systems (2006)*
I developed the ‘Karate Action Replay System’ as a way of giving something back to the sport that has become my way of life. The skills I applied to this project were gained through studying the Bachelor of Multimedia Systems (2006)*, and the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (2003).
My two main passions in life are karate and developing electronic games. I hope to combine these in the future to produce intensively interactive experiences.
At Monash I broadened my skills by having hands on experience with such programs as Alias Maya, Unreal Engine Runtime, Virtools, Photoshop, Flash (as used in the Karate Action Replay System) and many others. This includes 3D modelling, character animation and rigging, texturing and visual communication, database implementation, game engine experience and level design.
With so many interesting and varied applications offered within the Multimedia field, the toughest decision will be to narrow down which area I would like to specialise in. Currently I am hoping to work in the games industry as I feel it will offer me a unique creative outlet as well as technical challenges. Regardless of which field I work in I hope to continue to develop personal projects such as the ‘Karate Action Replay System’.
* The Bachelor of Multimedia Systems is the previous form of the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems with a major in Multimedia applications.
