and Services Ltd

Samit Kapoor is currently involved with an implementation project for the BPO wing of ebookers.com. As a Functional Consultant (Finance) in JD Edwards One World XE suite of ERP applications, he has found himself working all over the globe.

"I am now working in New Delhi, India, but this one implementation with ebookers.com has taken me to the UK, France, Spain and Germany as well. The job is particularly interesting and challenging because it is being done simultaneously in eight European nations at present", said Samit.

Upgrade skills

After completing his Masters in Commerce degree, and with four years experience in industry working in different areas including marketing, finance and personnel, he felt that he needed to upgrade his skills.

"I wanted to upgrade my skills, but at the same time blend my past experiences with my new degree. The very flexible Master of Information Management and Systems course offered me the right opportunity to do just this. As a result of my studying the MIMS degree, my current job offers me the adaptability of a functional global consultant in the ERP Industry", he said.

For Samit, the best things about his MIMS degree at Monash University were the academics, career direction advice, professionalism, case studies and the whole Monash experience.

Passion and experience

"All the academics at Caulfield were not only very knowledgeable in their own fields, but also extremely approachable and would go out of their way to accommodate an interested student. I am very grateful to them for recognising my passion for ERP and for channelling my energies in the right direction, at the right moment.

"I also learnt the importance of time management and how to adapt to increasing pressures, which the new global economy brings. I found the case study approach in most lectures a definite plus as well, as one of my professors used to say 'Life is too short to learn from your own experiences, so we need to learn from the experiences of others'. The Monash MIMS degree has definitely breathed a new lease of life into my career," said Samit.
