Scott Zonneveldt
Bachelor of Multimedia Systems – Major in Programming *
Scott Zonneveldt is currently studying the Bachelor of Multimedia Systems (3rd year) at Monash’s Berwick campus. He first became interested in computer technology years ago whilst playing early video games such as “Prince of Persia” and “Doom”. At high school Scott undertook IT subjects such as multimedia and programming, which then prompted him to pursue a career in the area of information technology.
While at Monash, Scott has had the opportunity to explore the many disciplines of information technology including 2D and 3D animation, computer graphic design, game design, database development and systems analysis. In his second year he discovered a real passion for programming, and then made programming his major.
“Zombie Attack”, created in conjunction with Ben Snooks, is Scott’s first game. The game was programmed with Flash Actionscript, a high level language that is easy to pick up and great for programming small internet-based games and websites.
The application of Scott's theoretical skills to such a practical project has given him confidence to tackle many future projects.
While his main interests lie in game programming, Scott also has a keen interest in application and web programming, and has studied Java, C++, PERL, PHP, Javascript and SQL as well as web markup languages such as XHTML, CSS and XML. This has given him a broad skill set which he has used to create web pages for clients in his spare time.
Scott's next project is the creation of a 3D FPS game, such as “Quake”. This game will be created with C++ and Microsoft's DirectX, the industry’s current standard for game development and interactive applications.
After he graduates, Scott plans to work as a programmer on either games, applications or websites.
* The Bachelor of Multimedia Systems is the previous form of the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems with a major in multimedia
