Enrolment load
Enrolment load fis measured in EFTSL (Equivalent Full Time Student Load). A full time student will normally be enrolled in 1 EFTSL (48 credit points). An EFTSL of less than .75 (36 credit points) is defined as a part-time study load.
Information for international students
Please ensure that your enrolment is a full-time (24 points each semester) enrolment (except during summer semester), otherwise you may be in violation of the regulations of the Immigration Department and Citizenship (DIAC). If you feel that you have legitimate reason to be underloaded, please consult your school office to verify this. Please note that international students must have a full year full time load at all times and this means enrolling for the whole year (not just semester one) when completing the re enrolment requirements. Please refer to the ESOS web site for further information.
For international students studying at the Malaysia campus, please refer to the web site for information pertaining to Immigration and Visa Requirements.

Overloading of credit points
Guidelines for Overloading (accelerated study)
If you have completed 48 points of study and received a credit average, you are eligible to overload (i.e. exceed 24 points enrolled in a semester). Please refer to the Univeristy Course Structure policy regarding this. Overloading in a unit can only be done manually via your School office on the Application to Overload form. Students who meet th e criteria for overloading are generally only allowed to overload by only one unit per semester. Exceptions to this policy are Dean's Scholar Program students. Only in extreme special circumstances will approval be given to overload outside of the University policy and only with the course coordinator's approval. Please see your course co-ordinator for further advice and approval if this is the case.
Students enrolled in Gippsland based degrees MUST ALWAYS obtain permission to overload from their course leaders.
Sponsored students (eg AIDAB) cannot underload or overload without specific permission from their sponsor. If you are unsure whether you are allowed to overload/underload, please contact the School office before you complete your re-enrolment.
Malaysia campus students MUST ALWAYS obtain permission to overload from the Director of Information Technology courses. South Africa campus students must obtain permission to overload from the Head of School. Please contact your Course Manager before you complete your enrolment.
Enrolment in units in excess of degree requirements (for undergraduate students only)
The Faculty of Information Technology does not normally permit students to undertake units in excess of their degree requirements (usually 144 points). Students wishing to enrol in extra units are required to seek approval from the School Office on your campus. Units taken in excess of those required to meet degree regulations may be charged at the full fee rate and treated as non-award study.

Under-enrolment of credit points
The faculty does not restrict underloading by students (except for international students) however course duration limitations must be observed.
There are regulations that restrict international students from underloading and therefore if you are an international student under-enrolment may affect your visa. Please refer to the ESOS legislation for details.
