2008-2009 Summer Semester and Term 4
Summer Semesters (A and B) and Term 4 enrolments in Faculty of Information Technology units will open on the 1st September 2008.
Summer Semesters (A and B) cover teaching in the period December 2008 to February 2009 and special fees arrangements apply, click here for further details.
Standard semester fees apply to Term 4 enrolments. These periods run from October 2008 to December 2008 and are not considered part of summer semester. However, the Units Offered/Timetable includes these units for your convenience.
Any reference to "Summer Semester" in this page also applies to Term 4 except for fees information.
How to Enrol
Visit your Home School Office to obtain and submit your Enrolment Amendment Form. All enrolments are completed manually and cannot be done via WES.
Choosing a Unit offered by the Faculty of IT
It is a student responsibility to check for prerequisites and prohibitions that apply to units. Although two units may be prohibited with one another, this does not imply that they are equivalent units. IT students are reminded that, although approval signatures may not be required on the Enrolment Amendment Form, it is a student responsibility to obtain course advice to ensure summer units will be credited towards their degree.
Closing dates for enrolling into On-Campus Summer Semester Units
Students are encouraged to enrol in summer units as soon as possible as this will help to prevent units being cancelled due to low enrolment numbers.
There is no formal closing date (except for Off-Campus and Offshore units) and enrolments will be accepted until the start of teaching. Lecturer approval will be required for enrolment in a unit where classes have already commenced.
Discontinuing Units
Please refer to the 'Units Offered/Timetables' page for specific discontinuation dates for IT units. Please also refer to the 'Important Dates' page for further information on discontinuing from units. It is a students responsibility to discontinue by the applicable date.
Study load over Summer Semester
The Faculty of IT recommends students study no more than two units in any one summer calendar period. Some summer units are taught in ‘intensive teaching mode’ or via Off-Campus Learning and are very demanding scholastically.
Single Unit/Cross Institutional Study for Non-Monash Students
You can obtain a "Single unit and Cross-institutional study application form" from any IT campus or you may download the application from http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/service-centre/forms/
